A Dutch court rejects a request to ban the export of fighter aircraft parts that may reach Israel
On Friday, a Dutch court rejected a request from human rights organizations to issue an order under which the Netherlands would ban all exports of F-15 fighter jet parts that could eventually reach Israel.
Dutch media reported that the lawsuit, which was initiated by human rights organizations, including Oxfam's arm in the Netherlands, comes in the wake of another ruling issued by a local court in February, which stated that the Netherlands could not send F-35 aircraft parts to Israel due to fears of... The use of fighter jets in operations that violate international humanitarian law in the Gaza war.
The non-governmental organizations said that the Dutch state stopped the direct export of aircraft parts to Israel, but continued to deliver combat aircraft parts to the United States and other countries, according to what was reported by the Quds Press Agency.
She explained that those parts could then be sent or used in aircraft sent to Israel, and that this should also stop under the previous ruling.
However, the Hague District Court said in a press release that the NGOs' interpretation of the February ruling was too broad, and that the Dutch state was complying with the export ban as required.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for more than nine months led to the martyrdom of 38,345 martyrs, the injury of 88,295 others (most of them civilians), and the displacement of about 1.9 million people from the Strip’s population, according to United Nations data.
