Israel claims: An alternative to Hamas's rule in Gaza, whose policy will come to light within days
Israeli National Security Council Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi announced on Tuesday that an alternative to Hamas in the Gaza Strip whose policy will emerge within days, given the inability to eliminate the movement as an idea.
Although more than 8 months have passed since the start of its war on the Gaza Strip, Israel has been unable to achieve any of its declared goals for the war, especially recovering Israeli prisoners and eliminating the capabilities of Hamas.
In his speech at the Herzliya Security Conference at Reichman University in Tel Aviv, Hanegbi said: “Hamas cannot be eliminated as an idea,” according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (official).
With American support, since October 7, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza that has left about 124,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.
Hanegbi added: “We need an alternative idea, not just destroying its (Hamas) military capabilities. In the coming days, the policy of this alternative will come to light,” without details.
He continued: “Israel is discussing with the United States how the United Nations, European countries, and moderate Arab countries can find an alternative to Hamas’ rule in Gaza,” as he put it.
Hamas has repeatedly announced its rejection of any plans regarding what Israel calls the day after the end of the war, and stressed that the future of Gaza is decided by the Palestinian people without any external interference.
Hanegbi acknowledged that “Israel is going through one of the most difficult times ever, and one can debate how we got here (this situation) and who is to blame.”
Israel continues its war on Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah (south), and to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
Tel Aviv is also defying the request of International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan to issue arrest warrants against its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and its Defense Minister, Yoav Galant. For their responsibility for “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in Gaza.
For the 18th year, Israel has besieged the Gaza Strip, and its war forced about two million of its residents, numbering about 2.3 million Palestinians, to flee in catastrophic conditions, with severe scarcity of food, water, and medicine.
