NBC: American military personnel protest Washington’s support for Israel
NBC reported that American soldiers are seeking to obtain the condition known as “conscientious objection” in order to leave military service, which means they are protesting against their country’s support for Israel in its war on the Gaza Strip.
NBC added, quoting two American pilots, that they could no longer ignore the role of the US government in the war on Gaza, including weapons supplies and diplomatic and intelligence support to Israel.
The two American pilots considered the Israeli attack on Gaza to be genocide, noting that the scenes in Gaza affect not only them, but also many Americans who think in the same way.
The two pilots added that they could no longer in good conscience continue to serve an administration they described as violating American and international law.
US Navy pilot Aaron Bushnell (25 years old) previously burned himself in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington in protest against the war in Gaza, and the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) confirmed his death.
American support for Israel in its aggression against Gaza also witnessed condemnation in American diplomatic circles, the most recent of which was the resignation of Andrew Miller, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israeli-Palestinian Affairs.
Sources revealed to Al Jazeera that Miller had been intending to resign for some time due to the US administration's position on the Gaza war.
She added that what strengthened Miller's decision was the US administration's position on the Israeli attack on the city of Rafah and its failure to address the stubborn position of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
