Griffiths: There is no safe place in Gaza and it is time to end the collective suffering

Martin Griffiths, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, said on Saturday that the recent Israeli attacks on the Nuseirat camp showed that “there is no safe place in Gaza,” calling for an end to the collective suffering.

In a post on his account on the X platform, Griffiths drew attention to the recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, and renewed his call to put an end to the tragedies in Gaza.

“Nuseirat refugee camp has become the epicenter of the seismic shock that civilians in Gaza are still suffering from,” he said. “When we see bodies on the ground, we are reminded that there is no safe place in Gaza.”

Griffiths stressed that healthcare facilities in Gaza have reached the end point, adding: "When we see blood-stained patients being treated on hospital floors, we remember how healthcare services in Gaza are tied by a thin rope."

He stressed the need to protect all civilians, and said: “This mass suffering must end, and it must end now.”

On Saturday, 210 Palestinians were killed and more than 400 others were injured in a massacre committed by Israeli forces after a violent artillery and air strike targeting the Nuseirat camp in Gaza, according to what was announced by the government media office in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced on the same day that it had managed to “liberate” 4 detainees in a “special operation” in the Nuseirat camp.
