Lieberman: It is time to change this failed government in Israel
The head of the Yisrael Beytenu party, Avigdor Lieberman, said today, Friday, that the time has come to change the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which he described as a “failure,” because it did not eliminate the Hamas movement, nor did it restore detainees in the Gaza Strip.
He added in press statements, “After 8 months of war, we received complete humiliation instead of absolute victory.”
He stressed that the Israeli government also lost in the north, and continues to surrender to Lebanese Hezbollah.
Anger is growing in Israel against the current Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, for not concluding a prisoner and detainee exchange deal.
On the other hand, Israeli media said on Friday that Minister in the war government, Benny Gantz, will make a statement on Saturday evening, which may include announcing his resignation, due to the lack of a clear plan and vision for the war in the Gaza Strip.
It is expected that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver a speech to the Israelis tomorrow, Saturday, after Gantz’s statement.
A poll for the Israeli newspaper Maariv also showed that 42% of Israelis believe that Israeli War Council member Benny Gantz is most suitable to head the government, compared to 34% who prefer current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Maariv poll showed that 62% support launching a war on Lebanon in response to Hezbollah attacks.
The Maariv poll also indicated that 47% support the proposal announced by US President Joe Biden to release detainees in Gaza, while 37% support the return of detainees through military pressure.
