Netanyahu: We are fighting a war on several fronts despite international pressure
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that Tel Aviv is waging a war on several fronts despite “great international pressure.”
This came after his participation in a security assessment at the headquarters of the Central Command of the Israeli army in Jerusalem, according to the official broadcasting authority.
Netanyahu added: “We are fighting in the south, in the north, and in Judea and Samaria.”
He continued: "This effort is being implemented under difficult international pressure, but I can guarantee one thing, which is that what happened (the Al-Aqsa Flood attack on October 7) will not happen (again), and we will change this reality."
On more than one occasion over the past few days, Netanyahu stressed that he is “not ready to stop the war” on Gaza.
This comes despite the announcement by US President Joe Biden, whose country strongly supports Tel Aviv, on May 31, of the existence of a three-stage “Israeli proposal”, which includes a sustainable ceasefire, prisoner exchange, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
On Tuesday, Washington asked Tel Aviv not to escalate with Hezbollah before completing the prisoner exchange deal with Hamas, according to what was reported by the Kan channel, affiliated with the broadcasting authority, quoting an unnamed American official.
Netanyahu is subject to widespread international criticism because of his insistence on continuing the war in the Gaza Strip, ignoring mounting warnings about its repercussions on the entire region.
Last May 20, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, announced that he was seeking to issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav Galant, on charges of committing “war crimes.”
