Chinese President: Commitment to the two-state solution must not fluctuate according to whims
Chinese President Xi Jinping said Thursday that the war should not continue indefinitely, justice should not be absent forever, and commitment to the two-state solution should not waver at whims.
Xi made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.
Xi pointed out that the Middle East is a land full of broad prospects for development, but the fires of war are still raging there. Since last October, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has witnessed a sharp escalation, throwing people into enormous suffering.
Xi added that China firmly supports the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, supports Palestine obtaining full membership in the United Nations, and supports holding an international peace conference with broader participation, greater credibility, and greater effectiveness.
Xi noted that China will continue to provide a helping hand to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, support post-war reconstruction, and support the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing emergency humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
