Biden stresses the American commitment to Israel and Ukraine
US President Joe Biden stressed the importance of what he described as "the critical role of American support for allies around the world," including Israel, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific region.
Biden's speech came in a speech he delivered today, Saturday, at a graduation ceremony at the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, as part of Biden's campaign to highlight the government's efforts to support active and retired military personnel.
These efforts include a bipartisan law that Biden signed two years ago to help injured veterans obtain health care more easily.
Biden described American soldiers as "working around the clock to support Ukraine in its efforts to repel the two-year-old Russian invasion," but stressed his commitment to keeping them away from the front lines.
"We stand strongly with Ukraine and will continue to do so," Biden told the graduates amid a wave of applause.
He also highlighted the United States' role in repelling Iranian missile attacks on Israel and supporting allies in the Indo-Pacific region in the face of China's growing military influence there.
Biden said, "Thanks to the American armed forces, we are doing what only America can do as the indispensable country and the only superpower in the world."
A few days ago, Biden strongly defended Israel, stressing that Israeli forces are not committing genocide in their military campaign on the Gaza Strip.
On numerous occasions in various parts of the country, Biden faced protests from pro-Palestinian advocates who described him as an “atmosphere of genocide” for his steadfast support for Israel.
Protests erupted in universities across the country due to Biden's support for Israel's war on the Gaza Strip about 8 months ago. Some students took advantage of giving speeches at graduation ceremonies at universities such as Harvard and Duke to protest Biden's actions.
