Biden criticizes the request to issue arrest warrants against Israeli officials
US President Joe Biden "strongly" rejected the request of International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan to issue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
In a statement on Monday, Biden described the decision as “outrageous” and pledged to stand by Israel during the judicial process.
Earlier today, International Criminal Prosecutor Karim Khan announced that they are seeking to issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu, Gallant, and three Hamas leaders on charges of committing “war crimes.”
Biden denounced what he called Khan's "equality" between Israel and Hamas, three of whose leaders were included in Khan's request for arrest warrants.
He said: "Let me be clear: Whatever the prosecutor may mean, there is no parity between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security."
Israeli crimes included “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare as a war crime,” “intentionally causing great suffering or serious damage to body or health,” “willful killing,” “intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as a war crime,” and “intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as a war crime.” Extermination and/or killing,” according to the same statement.
