Saudi Arabia: The continuation of Israel’s war on Gaza has weakened the international system
As the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip continued for the seventh month in a row, and following the incursion of Israeli tanks into the city of Rafah in the far south of the Strip, despite international and Arab warnings, Saudi Arabia renewed its condemnation of Israeli violations.
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, said during the opening session of the foreign ministers’ preparatory meeting for the 33rd Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Bahrain next Thursday, that “the Israeli war machine continues its aggression and violation of all international laws and norms without care, in light of the absence of activation of international accountability mechanisms.” "It exacerbated the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe."
He also stressed in his speech on Tuesday that these Israeli violations weakened the credibility of the rules and institutions of the international system, and demonstrated the complete inability of international institutions to maintain international peace and security.
He stressed that "the Kingdom has worked since the beginning of the unprecedented attacks on the Palestinian people, in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, to make all efforts to mobilize international support in order to stop the brutal Israeli attacks and limit the repercussions of the crisis and its expansion."
He also pointed out that "Saudi Arabia hosted the extraordinary Arab Islamic Summit, and participated in the ministerial follow-up committee that traveled to most influential capitals and international organizations in order to convey a unified position in support of the Palestinian people."
Today, the Arab foreign ministers are discussing the agenda items that will be submitted to the Arab leaders for discussion and approval during the summit next Thursday.
This anticipated summit comes as the bloody Israeli war on Gaza continues for 7 months, and the death toll rises to more than 35 thousand.
It is also accompanied by an Israeli threat to invade Rafah, which is crowded with hundreds of thousands of displaced people, in an issue that sparked comprehensive Arab rejection and a unified position denouncing this invasion.
