Pakistan calls on UN to grant Palestine full membership

Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, strongly called on the Security Council to reconsider and ratify Palestine's application for full membership in the United Nations, which is consistent with the majority of global opinions.

In a press conference, the Pakistani mission to the United Nations said that the move “will correct the historical injustice to which the Palestinian people have been subjected and will pave the way for the establishment of a two-state solution.”

During the Council meeting held on April 18, the United States vetoed a draft resolution recommending that the General Assembly hold a vote to allow Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.

In his speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Akram pointed out the difference in treatment between Israel and Palestine, noting that “while Israel, one of the countries divided in 1947, is now a member of the United Nations, Palestine is still deprived of membership despite fulfilling its requirements.” All membership conditions.

Akram criticized the recent statements made by the Israeli Prime Minister, as well as the recent military operations carried out by Israel in Gaza, which resulted in the killing of more than 35,000 civilians, and the indiscriminate bombing operations and imposition of a siege to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid, actions that the International Court of Justice described as "Genocide".

The Pakistani ambassador called on the United Nations and the broader international community to implement an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, ensure unrestricted access for humanitarian aid, prevent further escalation of the conflict, provide international protection for the Palestinians, revive the peace process, and hold Israel responsible for the war crimes and crimes it has committed against humanity.
