Colombia severs relations with Israel due to the war on Gaza
Colombian President Gustavo Petro decided on Wednesday to sever diplomatic relations with Israel due to the genocidal war it is waging against the Gaza Strip.
Petro strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked to join the case of South Africa, which accuses Israel of committing genocide in a case it filed with the International Court of Justice.
In his speech to the masses on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, he confirmed that an announcement in this regard will be issued tomorrow, Monday, May 2.
He said, "Here, before you, the transitional government, the President of the Republic, announces that diplomatic relations with the State of Israel will be severed tomorrow."
Petro stressed in his speech that relations with Tel Aviv will be severed due to the "existence of a genocidal government" in Israel.
He said, "If Palestine dies, humanity dies and we will not let it die."
He continued, "Countries cannot stand idly by in the face of events in Gaza."
