A delegation from Hamas visits Cairo to discuss the truce proposal
A delegation from the Hamas movement will visit the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Monday, to discuss a truce proposal aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Reuters quoted a leader in the movement, who spoke on condition of anonymity, that the delegation will discuss a ceasefire proposal submitted by the movement to Qatar and Egypt, which are leading the mediation efforts, as well as discussing the Israeli occupation’s response.
The source explained that Hamas is likely to respond to the latest Israeli proposal regarding a phased truce, which was submitted on Saturday.
In another context, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed his optimism regarding a proposal for a truce and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip, stressing that Egypt is awaiting a response to the proposal from Israel and Hamas.
In other statements, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken indicated that “Hamas must decide, and it must decide quickly,” adding, “We hope that Hamas will make the right decision.”
Blinken confirmed: “Hamas has a very generous proposal in its hands.”
