A six-party Arab meeting discusses developments in the Gaza war in Riyadh

Today, Saturday, the Saudi capital, Riyadh, witnessed the holding of a six-party Arab meeting, which discussed developments in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

This came, according to what was reported by the official Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel, coinciding with an upcoming meeting between the members of this meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in the Kingdom.

According to the same source, “Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri, Jordanian Ayman Al-Safadi, and representatives of the UAE, Qatar, and Palestine (he did not name them) held the third Arab consultative meeting in Riyadh to discuss developments in the Israeli war on Gaza.”

He added: “The ministerial consultative meeting reviewed procedures to protect civilians and renewed the demand to lift restrictions on the entry of aid into Gaza and the need to end the war.”

The ministerial consultative meeting also reviewed, according to the channel, “the steps to implement the two-state solution and recognize Palestine.”

While no official details were issued by Saudi Arabia until (19:14) GMT, that group is also expected to meet with Linken, according to two statements by the Egyptian and Jordanian Foreign Ministry, issued earlier on Saturday.

The Arab Group meeting comes on the eve of the launch of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh over the course of Sunday and Monday (April 28 and 29) under the slogan “International Cooperation, Growth and Energy for Development,” in the presence of a number of heads of state and more than 1,000 senior officials, international experts, opinion leaders and thinkers, from 92 countries, according to what was reported by Saudi news on Saturday.

In late March, Cairo hosted an Arab ministerial meeting that included the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi, and the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem. Al-Hashemi, and Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh.

Blinken, who arrived in the region on his sixth tour since the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, joined this meeting.
