Lebanon submits a complaint to the Security Council against Israel
Lebanon filed a complaint before the UN Security Council following Israel’s attack on a residential area in the southern suburb of the capital, Beirut, two days ago, which led to the martyrdom of the Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Saleh Al-Arouri, and a number of his aides.
The text of the complaint filed included that “the attack represents the most dangerous chapter in the series of attacks, as it constituted an escalation, the first of its kind since the year 2006, as this time it affected a very crowded residential area in the suburb of the capital, Beirut, and a blatant Israeli violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, the integrity of its lands, and its citizens.” And civil aviation traffic, which is a matter of concern because it may lead to an expansion of the conflict and destabilize regional peace and security.”
Lebanon once again asked the UN Security Council to “condemn this attack, put pressure on Israel to stop the escalation, and to take all necessary measures to stop the Israeli attacks on its lands and people, in order to prevent the conflict from escalating and plunging the entire region into a comprehensive and destructive war that will be difficult to contain.”
