Haaretz: Israeli concern about an American time limit for the Gaza war
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said on Wednesday evening that there is a state of anxiety prevailing in the political leadership in Israel regarding the possibility of the United States setting a time limit for the war.
The newspaper reported that the source of this concern is the upcoming visit of US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to Israel tomorrow, Thursday. According to the newspaper, Sullivan may impose on the Israelis a specific date for ending the war on Gaza that has been ongoing for 68 days.
The visit comes amid clear tensions between US President Joe Biden and Netanyahu over the war that followed an attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7.
There were reports that Biden gave Israel a deadline to end the war by next January, according to media reports, but a White House official denied setting a specific date for Israel.
However, it appears that Biden no longer supports Israel as much as he did at the beginning of the war.
He said in statements on Tuesday that Tel Aviv no longer enjoys international support in its war on Gaza “as a result of the indiscriminate bombing that claimed the lives of thousands.”
He added that Benjamin Netanyahu must make a change in his government.
