Prisoner exchange deal: Israeli hostages arrive in Egypt in preparation for their transfer to Israel
This evening, Friday, Israel receives 13 hostages from the Gaza Strip as part of a prisoner exchange deal concluded with the Hamas movement in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, over the four days of the truce that began at seven o’clock this morning.
Israeli media quoted a senior official as saying, “The detainees arrived on the Egyptian side, and their identities match the list of kidnapped persons who will be released, which we received earlier.”
Red Cross crews received the Israeli hostages in the southern Gaza Strip, and they were transferred from there to the Rafah crossing, where the Egyptian side is scheduled to hand them over to Israel via the “Nitsana” crossing.
The Al-Qassam Brigades announced that it had completed the handover of the 13 Israeli detainees to the Red Cross, in addition to the Thai workers, bringing the first batch to 24 hostages.
It is planned that the Israeli hostages will be transported by helicopter from Egypt to several Israeli hospitals, where they will undergo medical examinations and meet their families.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated earlier that Netanyahu and the Minister of Security, Yoav Gallant, are closely following the process of releasing the hostages from the Gaza Strip in the operations room at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Security in Tel Aviv.
Later today, Israel is scheduled to release 39 Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, from the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, as part of the first batch of the prisoner exchange deal.
The prisoner exchange deal concluded with the mediation of Qatar stipulates the release of 3 Palestinian prisoners, women and children, for every Israeli hostage, as Hamas is expected to release 50 of its hostages, women and children under 19 years old, during the days of the truce.
It is noteworthy that a 4-day truce began at seven in the morning on Friday, and will include a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and the Hamas movement, including children and women, in addition to an increase in the entry of humanitarian aid trucks and fuel tankers throughout the days of the truce.
The truce is accompanied by the cessation of all military actions by the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Palestinian resistance, as well as by the Israeli army, throughout the truce period. Airplanes also stopped flying completely in the southern Gaza Strip, and aircraft stopped flying for 6 hours a day, from ten in the morning until four in the evening in Gaza City and the northern Strip.
