Germany: Netanyahu must condemn settler attacks in the West Bank
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must condemn the violence carried out by settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank.
She stated in a statement to the newspaper "Deutsche Welle", on Tuesday, that Netanyahu must condemn the acts of settler violence and investigate them. She indicated that this matter is also necessary for the security of Israel, pointing out that the latter is responsible for ensuring that chaos does not escalate in the West Bank.
Regarding the Gaza Strip, she stressed the need to make efforts to ensure that people in Gaza have safe places where they can obtain drinking water and medicines. She pointed out that people in Gaza must be protected, as the war is against the Hamas movement, and not against innocent civilians, women and children.
She defended her country's position of rejecting a ceasefire in Gaza, claiming that this would make Hamas gain more time and gather its strength.
Various parts of the West Bank, including the city of East Jerusalem, are witnessing incursions into villages and towns by the Israeli army, accompanied by confrontations, arrests, and shooting and tear gas bombs at Palestinians.
During this period, more than 200 West Bank residents were killed by occupation bullets, in addition to the injury of about 2,800. The tensions in the West Bank coincide with the ongoing devastating Israeli war on Gaza, which has so far led to the martyrdom of more than 14,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, in addition to the injury of More than 33 thousand others.
