Hamas denies the validity of a Reuters report about what happened in the Haniyeh-Khamenei meeting: We regret publishing baseless news.

On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” denied the validity of what was reported by Reuters in its report about the meeting of the head of the movement’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, with the religious leader Ali Khamenei in Iran.

The movement said in a statement published on its account on the Telegram platform: “Commenting on what was reported by Reuters news agency about Ismail Haniyeh’s meeting with Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, we deny the validity of what was stated in this report, and we regret publishing baseless news.” “We call on the agency to investigate accuracy,” without mentioning any other details.

Reuters report details

Earlier, on Wednesday, Reuters reported that “three senior officials from Iran and Hamas said that Iranian Guide Ali Khamenei sent a clear message to Haniyeh, when they met in Tehran early this month (November), that because of not informing... movement against Iran with the attack of last October 7, Tehran will not enter the war on behalf of Hamas.”

The agency added, "According to officials who requested anonymity to speak freely, Khamenei informed Haniyeh that Iran will continue to provide its political and moral support to the movement, but without interfering directly."

She added: “A Hamas official stated that Khamenei urged Haniyeh to silence those voices in the movement, which is openly calling on Iran and its Lebanese ally, the Hezbollah group, to join the battle against Israel with full force,” the agency said.

On November 4, the official Iranian IRNA news agency quoted the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel as saying that a Hamas official said that Haniyeh had visited the Iranian capital, Tehran, a few days ago, and met with Khamenei.

According to the channel, “Hamas leader Osama Hamdan revealed in a press conference held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, that Haniyeh visited Tehran and met with Khamenei.”

Factions affiliated with Iran attack Israel

Since October 7, both the Lebanese Hezbollah group and the Yemeni Houthi group, which are affiliated with Iran, have participated in launching missile attacks on Israel.

In northern occupied Palestine, the front there is burning on a daily basis, and Hezbollah members are attacking Israeli targets and directly targeting soldiers, in addition to the group that controls southern Lebanon allowing Palestinian factions to launch attacks on Israeli areas and settlements.

As for the Houthi group, it has escalated its attacks in recent days, and launched a number of ballistic missiles on southern Israel, and also launched a number of marches towards Eilat.

At dawn on October 7, Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” in response to “the continuing attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property, and their sanctities, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.”

Since then, the Israeli army has launched a devastating war on Gaza, leaving 11,500 Palestinians dead, including 4,710 children and 3,160 women, in addition to 29,800 injured, 70% of whom are children and women, according to official Palestinian sources on Wednesday evening.
