A summit on Gaza on Wednesday for spouses of heads of state in Istanbul

Emine Erdogan, wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will host, on Wednesday, a summit of spouses of heads of state, entitled “One Heart for Palestine,” in the wake of the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

According to the Anadolu correspondent, the summit, which is being held in Istanbul, is expected to be attended by the wives of heads of state and government and representatives from a number of countries, including Qatar, Malaysia and Uzbekistan.

Mrs. Erdogan intensified her agenda regarding developments in Palestine, the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, and the loss of the lives of thousands of children, women and innocent people.

The developments since last October 7, the increase in human tragedy and the fall of more than 11,000 victims in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli attacks, prompted the wives of leaders and commanders, led by Emine Erdogan, to take urgent action.

On the initiative of Mrs. Erdogan, it was decided to hold the summit in Istanbul to send a message to the world for the sake of the innocents in Gaza, where she will deliver the opening speech, and it is expected that the wives of the leaders and participating leaders will also deliver speeches at the summit.

The summit will demonstrate strong solidarity to end the suffering of the innocent residents of Gaza and resolve the Palestinian crisis. Mrs. Erdogan previously led the Women’s Summit for Peace in Palestine, also in Istanbul on January 10, 2009.

That summit was attended by many wives of leaders of countries in the region, at a time when Israeli attacks on Gaza were increasing and nearly 800 people lost their lives within two weeks.

At that summit, Emine Erdogan read the text of the “Istanbul Call to Support Gaza,” and the text was unanimously accepted by the leaders’ wives.

For 39 days, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, destroying neighborhoods above the heads of its residents, and leaving 11,240 Palestinians dead, including 4,630 children and 3,130 women, as well as 29,000 injured, 70 percent of whom are children and women, according to the report. According to official Palestinian sources on Monday evening.
