The journey is not over and the decision is in Sinwar's hands

With the return of the Hamas movement delegation from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to Doha, Qatar, after two full days of negotiations and discussions to reach a ceasefire agreement including an exchange deal, many questions and question marks were raised about the possibility of this return being in the form of Hamas’ withdrawal from the negotiations, but the truth is that Hamas showed great flexibility and seriousness in order to reach this deal in a way that would ensure the end of the brutal aggression against our people and stop this war once and for all. The Palestinian delegation provided very precise observations regarding the Egyptian proposals paper. So what happened that forced the Hamas delegation to return to Qatar?

In fact, Hamas has reached complete conviction that Israel, with the statements of its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the extremists Ben Gvir and Smotrich about storming Rafah with or without a deal, can maneuver, deceive, and implement this agenda. Therefore, it retracted its initial agreement that it would not condition the withdrawal of the Israeli army in exchange for an American pledge, because With these threats, Israel may not fulfill the terms of the deal and may get its kidnappers in the first stage and then resume the aggression. Nothing is more accurate than the statements of the head of the CIA, William Burns, that the United States may not be able to control Israel and prevent it from carrying out a ground operation in Rafah. .

What also made matters worse, according to statements by Hamas officials, was that its delegation waited two full days for the arrival of an Israeli delegation, but Israel insisted on not sending the delegation, and thus this step increased Hamas’ suspicions, given the ambiguity of the Israeli position.

Despite all of the above, the Hamas delegation returned to Doha to consult with the movement’s leadership about the next step after it had become stubborn behind its main demand, which is to obtain official and guaranteed guarantees that Israel will not carry out aggression against Gaza after the start of the exchange deal and that it will commit to ending the war, so the head of the CIA flies out. American Burns came to Doha to hold an emergency session with the Qatari Prime Minister to save the exchange deal before it collapses by pressuring Israel to accept the deal as well as Hamas.

Hamas's return to Doha indicates that the movement's leadership wants clarifications from the United States regarding the contradiction in its positions. On the one hand, the United States said that it pledges to Israel ending the war after the stages of the exchange deal, and on the other hand, it was the United States itself that gave the green light to Israel to carry out the ground operation in Rafah. After the evacuation of civilians from the south to the north, Hamas in Gaza will be exposed to Israeli attacks. How can this contradiction in American positions guarantee Hamas that Israel will not return to resume the war?

As soon as the return of the Hamas delegation to Doha was announced, the United States decided to send the head of its Central Intelligence Agency to Doha in a last attempt so that Qatar would pressure the Hamas leadership to accept the American pledge, and for its part, the United States would pressure Israel to accept the Egyptian proposal for the deal, so Barnes will visit Israel today..

These fears and doubts made Hamas return to harden its positions and say publicly that there are some outstanding issues. Therefore, the delegation’s return to Doha is not considered a withdrawal, but rather to discuss new directions regarding the full details of the deal and obtain real guarantees and pledges, with expectations that the movement will return a delegation from it to Cairo. During the next two days, with the hope that an Israeli delegation will arrive to confirm Israeli intentions, but the decision will be in the hands of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who is expected to receive all the details regarding what negotiations took place in Cairo later to give the green light to determine Hamas’s point of view on this crucial issue, especially in In light of the continuing Israeli threats to storm Rafah.
