A multi-stage Israeli plan to transform Gaza into a version similar to the West Bank

Israeli perceptions of the day following the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip continue for 31 days.

On Monday, the Israeli website Yedioth Ahronoth indicated a new plan with several stages, ending with the government in Gaza being relied upon by local officials and individuals not linked to the Hamas movement, and transforming the Strip into an area similar to Area B in the occupied West Bank.

The website's journalist and military analyst, Ron Ben Yishai, wrote in his review of the plan that a week and a half after the ground incursion into the Gaza Strip by the occupation army, Israel will decide with the Americans and the United Nations the initial arrangement for controlling the Strip, after the fighting stops on all fronts and not In the north only.

Ben Yishai explained: “In Israel, it is clear that such an arrangement should include not only the northern Gaza Strip up to the Gaza Valley, but also the entire southern part, including the Rafah area and the Philadelphia axis, where there are many smuggling tunnels that will allow Hamas to replenish its strength.”

He added: “Anyone who thinks that occupying, controlling and undermining Hamas’ rule and military power in the northern Gaza Strip will achieve the primary goal of Israel’s security is mistaken. The southern Gaza Strip represents a problem in itself, which the Israeli army must still take into account. There is not yet a clear plan for the next day, and even the plan that will be described here, may change dramatically depending on the situation on the ground.”

The writer said, “According to the indicators, the organization of governance in Gaza will depend primarily on local officials and individuals not linked to Hamas. In fact, there are entire governing bodies in the Gaza Strip that still receive their salaries from Abu Mazen and the Palestinian Authority, 16 years after Hamas took control of the Strip.” ".

He added: “Arab countries will pump money to stabilize the humanitarian situation, and in the first stage the Israeli army and Shin Bet will continue security control in the Gaza Strip, but Israel has no intention of controlling the Strip, and its ambition is to leave Gaza as quickly as possible, after ensuring the security of the residents.” The South (meaning southern Israel in the territories occupied in 1948) and preventing the launching of rockets.”

According to the emerging idea, Ben Yishai says: “There will be another phase or two of the permanent settlement in the Gaza Strip that will last for several months, during which the Palestinian Authority will have civilian control over the Gaza Strip, but the Shin Bet and the Israeli army will have freedom to work in the fields of intelligence and thwarting operations, as it is the case in Area B in the West Bank. The Americans suggest that at this stage there be an international, non-American force in the Strip."

On the outskirts of the Strip, under the aforementioned plan, there will be safe zones where Palestinians can be present for agricultural work, but they will not be able to spend a long time there and certainly will not be able to carry weapons or set up observation points.

The writer continued, “According to the American request, the final stage will be political negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, perhaps within the framework of an international conference. According to the American administration at least, the goal is to reach a solution that leads to two states for two peoples, with a corridor linking Gaza” and the West Bank."

The writer concluded, "In any case, it is not expected that the current government will work to encourage actual negotiations that would produce the results that the Americans are looking forward to."
