Israeli Defense Gallant signs a dangerous order regarding Gaza prisoners
On Tuesday, Addameer Foundation reported that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant signed a decision on October 8th of this month that considers Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip “unlawful combatants.”
The organization explained that Gallant took this decision based on the “Unlawful Combatant Law” issued in 2002, where Order 3 (A-B) stipulated that detainees from the Gaza Strip be held in a camp called Sdet Yaman, which is an army camp near Beersheba, and this applies. The order is valid for 10 weeks from its date.
This is in contravention of international humanitarian law, which stipulates that detained fighters are prisoners of war.
