An explosion partially destroyed the Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine

Part of the Kakhovka dam to generate electricity in the Kherson region occupied by Russia in southern Ukraine was destroyed on Tuesday by explosions that Moscow and Kiev exchanged accusations of being responsible for.

And the mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontyev, announced on Telegram that "several strikes targeted the Kakhovka Dam" on Monday night, stressing that they destroyed the valves of the dam's gates and caused an "uncontrolled flow of water."

For its part, the Ukrainian army accused Russia in a statement of orchestrating an explosion at the dam, and President Volodymyr Zelensky called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council, according to what the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration, Andriy Yermak, announced on Telegram, condemning it as a "war crime."
