Today, Monday, thousands of citizens celebrated the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, with a central festival in the city center of Ramallah.
Citizens gathered in front of the tomb of martyr President Yasser Arafat, where employees and school and university students participated, and marched towards Al-Manara Square in the center of Ramallah.
A central festival was held, punctuated by many national events, and several speeches were delivered emphasizing the right of return, the importance of national unity for liberation from occupation, and the importance of President Mahmoud Abbas's speech at the United Nations, which commemorates the Nakba at its headquarters for the first time.
Banners were raised bearing the names of the displaced villages, countries and cities, and banners emphasizing the right of return, while Palestinian flags and black flags with the slogan of return were raised.
Scout and artistic teams also participated in the festival, and the movement stopped for 75 seconds, according to the number of years of the Nakba, in conjunction with the sounding of the mourning whistle through mosques and local radio stations, and the ringing of church bells.
