The Arab League calls for pressure on Israel to immediately release the prisoners

Today, Sunday, the Council of the League of Arab States called on the international community and international human rights bodies to put pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to immediately release all prisoners and detainees, especially old prisoners, patients, children, the elderly, administrative detainees, and the bodies of martyrs.


The Council held Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the death of prisoner Khader Adnan, who spent 87 days on hunger strike, during which the Israeli occupation prison authorities deliberately practiced fatal medical negligence towards him, refusing to take any fair trial for him and ignoring his legitimate request for freedom.


The Arab League Council, at the level of Arab foreign ministers in its extraordinary session, expressed in a statement, following the special session held today, Sunday, regarding the developments of the Palestinian cause and the continuous Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, headed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abu. Al-Gheit expressed his full solidarity with the Palestinian people on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, and saluted generations of Palestinian refugees who have been displaced from their homes by Israeli force, terrorism and oppression since the Nakba in 1948, affirming their inalienable right to return and compensation.


He appreciated the commemoration of this painful memory all over the world, including in the United Nations General Assembly and in many capitals and international and regional organizations.


It also called on the international community to exert the necessary pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to end its occupation of the land of the State of Palestine on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people and all its illegal policies and practices, including annexation, colonial settlement, and separation. racism, targeting civilians, forced displacement, arbitrary arrest, appropriation of property, demolition of homes and infrastructure, and violation of sanctities, calling for international protection for the Palestinian people.


The Council condemned the widespread Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, including the recent campaigns of siege and the brutal Israeli aggression against Jerusalem, Nablus, the Gaza Strip, Jenin, Jericho, Tulkarem and the rest of the Palestinian cities, villages and camps, including the practice of killing, terrorism and incitement, which claimed the lives of dozens of martyrs, wounded and detainees. And the demolition of homes, facilities and infrastructure, expressing its solidarity with the families of the martyrs and victims of the brutal Israeli aggression.


He also affirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the entire Arab nation, and support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to self-determination, return and compensation for Palestinian refugees, and their right to embody the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.


And he stressed the need to protect the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif in its entire area of 144,000 square meters, as it is a pure place of worship for Muslims only according to international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, and to reject and condemn all violations committed by Israel, the occupying power, of Islamic and Christian holy places, Especially the attempts aimed at changing the existing historical and legal situation in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, dividing it temporally and spatially, undermining the freedom of Muslims’ prayer in it and distancing them from it, and undermining its foundations through excavations beneath it, including the Israeli aggression in the blessed month of Ramadan against defenseless worshipers and the deliberate destruction of furniture and contents in the mosque. Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the recent attacks on the Bab Al-Rahma prayer hall, in frantic attempts to control and divide Al-Aqsa Mosque.


He emphasized the sovereignty of the State of Palestine over the city of Jerusalem and its sanctities, and the importance of the historical Jordanian Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy places in the city of Jerusalem, and its role in protecting these sanctities and preserving the existing legal and historical status therein, and that the Jordanian administration of the Jerusalem Endowments and the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is the only entity authorized to manage All affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif.
