The so-called Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, is a model of the racist Jewish mentality. He had started his activity in the “Kach” movement founded by Meir Kahane, which was outlawed as a terrorist movement. He was also convicted several times in Israeli courts as a supporter of terrorism.
This Ben Gvir had hung a picture of the perpetrator of the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre in 1994, Baruch Goldstein, who killed 33 martyrs inside the Ibrahimi Mosque and wounded about 130 others. Due to his arrogance and racism, he tried to say that he had become moderate in order to reduce hostility and condemnation of him.
But he remained as he was, and his moderation was just empty talk, because whoever describes a serial killer like Goldstein as a hero and a saint will not know a way or a means of moderation, as evidenced by the fact that he made statements in which he threatened the prisoners with a harsh response in the event that they insisted and refused to eat as a means of protest.
In line with Ben Gvir’s logic, we constantly see the acts and violations of the occupation, the latest but not the least of which is the deployment of thousands of cameras in the streets of Jerusalem and Hebron and the use of facial recognition technology known as the “Red Wolf” to track citizens and secure the harsh restrictions imposed on their freedom of movement.
Likewise, the Palestinians inside the Green Line also suffer from racist laws that do not give them their rights as they are for the Jews, in various fields and locations, and they express their rejection of this reality and demonstrate to demand their rights.
This racist mentality, which does not know the origins, rights and laws, continues its expansion and pressure on our people and their land. A few days ago, they approved plans to establish a settlement between Abu Dis and Ras al-Amud in Jerusalem, and expand the “Ramot” settlement by establishing two parks and building 180 settlement units.
It is clear from all this that Ben Gvir, the minister in the government steeped in extremism, certainly represents a Jewish mentality that knows nothing but the language of expansion and forceful action in all its military, economic and political forms, and the international political influence enjoyed by the Jews of the world and through which they serve Israel, of course.
In any case, we will remain steadfast on our land, no matter how big the challenges are, and the occupation will eventually come to an end.
