The occupation issued 217 administrative detention orders during the past month
The Authority for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that the Israeli occupation issued 217 new administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners during the past month.
The authority added, in a report published today, Thursday, that the number of new administrative orders reached 92, and 125 detention orders that were previously issued were renewed, noting that the period of administrative detention ranges from two to six months.
She said: "There are more than 1,000 administrative detainees inside the occupation prisons, most of them distributed among (Ofer, Negev, and Megiddo) prisons, including children, women, and the elderly."
The authority stated that the occupation authorities and prison administrations claim that the administrative detainees have secret files that cannot be disclosed at all, as the detainee does not know the length of his sentence or the charge against him.
The commission noted that the administrative detainee is often subject to renewal of the detention period more than once for a period of three months, six months or eight, and sometimes it may reach a full year or more.
It is worth mentioning that administrative detention is detention without charge or trial, and without consent to examine the evidence materials by lawyers, which is a complete violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law.
