Super Mario movie keeps topping the box office in America
Sunday, "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" maintained its lead at the North American box office , in a performance that may be among the best for films released this year.
The animated movie, produced by Universal, Nintendo and Illumination studios, has generated $347 million since its release during the Easter holiday in cinemas in the United States and Canada, according to preliminary figures released by the specialized company, "Experience Relations".
And came second in the ranking, "The Pops Exorcist", in which Russell Crowe plays the starring role, achieving $ 9.1 million, in a result that shows a significant difference from what was achieved by the movie of one of the most famous characters in the history of video games.
The third place went to the movie "John Wick: Chapter 4", with revenues of $ 7.9 million. In this work, Keanu Reeves assumes the role of a professional killer who fights against an international criminal group. During the four weeks in which it was shown in North American theaters, the film grossed $160 million.
And in fourth place was the comedy "Renfield," in which Nicolas Cage plays the role of Dracula, with $7.7 million in its first weekend.
And fifth was the movie “R”, directed by Ben Affleck, which deals with the history of the “Nike” sports brand and the role of the famous American basketball player, Michael Jordan, in launching this brand, with revenues amounting to 7.7 million dollars.
