Arab concern about security tensions in Sudan
Arab countries have expressed their deep concern about the security tensions that Sudan has witnessed, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
And the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces announced earlier today that its forces had taken control of sovereign sites, including the Republican Palace and the Guest House, in addition to controlling the airports of Khartoum and Meroe.
The Rapid Support Command said in a statement today that "the following sites have been fully controlled, the Republican Palace and the Guest House, and the airports of Khartoum, Meroe and El-Obeid, and a number of sites in the states."
However, the Sudanese Army General Command denied, in an official statement, that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) control any of the sovereign sites.
The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed deep concern and annoyance about the current combat operations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, and other areas, expressing his shock and condemnation of the resort to arms and fighting between brothers in this way and during the holy month of Ramadan.
Aboul Gheit stressed in a statement, a copy of which was received by Xinhua News Agency, the responsibility of the warring parties to preserve the security and safety of Sudanese civilians in the fighting areas and in the whole country, and the need to stop escalation and stop bloodshed immediately, adding that the General Secretariat is ready to intervene with the parties. to achieve that.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its official page on the social networking site ((Facebook)), "The Arab Republic of Egypt is following with great concern the developments of the situation in Sudan following the ongoing clashes there, and calls on all Sudanese parties to exercise maximum restraint in order to protect the lives and capabilities of the brotherly Sudanese people, and to uphold for the higher interests of the country.
The Egyptian military spokesman, Colonel Gharib Hafez, confirmed, in a statement, that the Egyptian armed forces are closely following the current events inside the Sudanese territory, pointing out that within the framework of the presence of joint Egyptian forces to conduct training with their counterparts in Sudan, coordination is underway with the concerned authorities in Sudan to ensure the security of the Egyptian forces. Stressing that the Egyptian armed forces call for preserving the security and safety of the Egyptian forces.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the military component and all political leaders in Sudan to prevail over the language of dialogue, restraint and wisdom, and unify ranks in a way that contributes to completing the consensus that has been achieved between the conflicting parties.
It expressed the Kingdom's concern over the state of escalation and military clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.
For its part, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs expressed its deep concern about the developments taking place in the Republic of Sudan, calling on all parties to exercise restraint, stop the fighting immediately, return to dialogue and calm, and adhere to the political framework agreement in a way that establishes a new phase that meets the aspirations and aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people. It contributes to enhancing security and political and economic stability in Sudan.
The ministry said that it is following through the operations center in the ministry and in coordination with the Jordanian embassy in Khartoum, the conditions of Jordanian citizens residing in Sudan, in light of the ongoing security developments.
Tunisia also called on the Sudanese parties to exercise restraint and to pursue dialogue to defuse the crisis, in the context of its comment on the developments that Sudan is experiencing due to the outbreak of armed clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement distributed this evening that Tunisia "is following with concern the developments of the current events in Sudan and expresses its deep concern about the outcome of the security situation and its impact on the political process in this country."
She added that Tunisia "calls on all Sudanese parties to reduce escalation, restrain the highest levels of restraint, judge the voice of reason, and adopt dialogue as a way to defuse the crisis in order to preserve Sudan's stability and preserve the capabilities of its people."
In the same context, Algeria called, in a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, on all Sudanese parties to stop the fighting and to give priority to the language of dialogue, following the outbreak of clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The statement said that Algeria, the current president of the League of Arab States Council at the summit level, is following with great concern the developments in the brotherly Republic of Sudan, after the serious clashes and confrontations with heavy weapons that took place in the capital, Khartoum, between the army forces and the Rapid Support Forces, and the resulting loss of life and property.
The statement added that, based on the brotherly relations and historical ties that unite the two countries and peoples, Algeria calls on all Sudanese parties to stop the fighting and to give priority to the language of dialogue to overcome differences, no matter how complex they are.
The statement called for upholding the supreme interest of Sudan, as Sudan is in dire need of concerted efforts by its people to end the current crisis and achieve the legitimate aspirations of the Sudanese people to restore their security and stability and build a democratic and modern state.
In the context of the negative effects of the events, EgyptAir announced the suspension of its flights to Khartoum for a period of three days, and said in a statement, a copy of which Xinhua received, that in light of the information we received about disturbances in the security situation in Sudan, Accordingly, ((EgyptAir)) announces the temporary suspension of its flights to and from Khartoum Airport, starting today, Saturday, for a period of 72 hours, until we are informed of developments in the situation in Sudan.
Saudi Airlines also announced the suspension of all flights to and from Sudan until further notice, as reported by the ((Al-Arabiya)) satellite news channel, and the decision came after announcing that one of its planes had an accident at Khartoum Airport before leaving Riyadh.
The disputes between the two military forces began last Wednesday in the Marawi region in northern Sudan, after the Rapid Support Forces moved military vehicles to a location near the military air base there, which the army considered an illegal move.
Deep differences have recently emerged between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, especially with regard to integrating the Rapid Support Forces into the army, as stipulated in the framework agreement signed between the military and civilian components on the fifth of last December.
