30 years in prison for a woman who killed her wife in Paris
On Friday evening , the Paris Criminal Court sentenced a woman to thirty years in prison for killing her 36-year-old wife in 2019 on the grounds of sorcery.
Christy Dupin, 42, a former bus driver, said she acted under the "influence" of a Haitian voodoo priestess who gave her instructions to "undo the magic".
The Public Prosecutor considered that the instructions of the sorceress, with which Christie Dubin justified her crime, were nothing but a pretext to "end the life of the mother of her two children."
Silvia, a shop employee and mother of two, was killed on March 23, 2019 in the garage of the building in which she was staying in Paris, and her body was found in a forest on the outskirts of the French capital .
Sylvia had expressed her desire to separate from Christy Dubin in mid-2018, after four years of marriage, and started a new romantic relationship.
On February 13, 2019, she signed an agreement to adopt the twin children she gave birth to in 2013. But she had two months to back out.
On Friday morning, before the court convened for deliberation, Christie Dubin asked for "forgiveness from all family members," stressing that she "regrets what happened."
Sabrina Moreau, who was in a romantic relationship with Christie Dupin at the time of the crime, was also sentenced to 18 years in prison, and Evin Webster, a friend of her Haitian origin, to 25 years.
Sabrina Morrow was the only one who consistently admitted that the trio lured the victim into the building's garage "with the intent of killing her".
