Launching an international air freight line between China and Brazil to promote e-commerce
Last Monday, the opening ceremony of a new air freight route linking Shenzhen, southern China , and Sao Paulo, Brazil , was held, which is expected to stimulate e-commerce between the two countries.
The aforementioned route was launched by Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, with two flights per week operated by a full-fledged Boeing 747 freighter of Atlas Air.
Last Sunday, the first flight carrying 100 tons of e-commerce products took off from Shenzhen, southern China, and specialized e-commerce products in Shenzhen.
According to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, products sold by companies across borders in Shenzhen and surrounding cities can be delivered to Brazilian consumers in "more than a week."
The airport added that since the beginning of this year, it has cooperated with airlines and logistics operators to open new cross-border routes, while the volume of air transportation of cross-border products increased by 70 percent year on year.
According to official statistics released by the General Administration of Customs of China, the bilateral trade volume between China and Brazil last year reached 171.49 billion US dollars, up 4.9 percent year on year.
