Ramallah – “Jerusalem” dot com – The Palestinian Prisoners Club said today, Sunday, that the prisoner, Iyad Nazeer Omar (40 years), from the Jenin camp, will undergo surgery this week to remove an external tumor behind the ear, and he is also supposed to undergo an operation Another surgery within a month from now to remove another tumor.


The Prisoner's Club stated in a statement that the prisoner Omar was recently infected with the Corona virus, along with a number of his fellow prisoners in Ashkelon prison, among them a group of patients, and hundreds of sick prisoners were subjected to the crime of medical negligence (slow killing). Where the process of procrastination in providing him with the necessary treatment was the main reason for his health condition, and the stage he has reached today.


It is noteworthy that the prisoner Omar has been detained since 2002, and has been sentenced to 24 years in prison. He is one of the sick prisoners who suffer from tumors, as his health condition began to deteriorate significantly about a year ago, and last year he underwent an operation during which a (benign) brain tumor was removed. At the time, he was in "Megiddo" prison, before he was later transferred to "Ashkelon" prison, and then to "Nafha" prison, and recently he was returned to "Ashkelon" prison. During the years of his detention, he lost his parents and the occupation prevented him from saying goodbye to them, as well as his mother. Who visited him before her death for ten years.


The Captive Club reaffirmed that the data received about new cases of tumors and the worsening condition of a number of them warns of what is more dangerous, and obliges us to redouble efforts from all the competent authorities to put an end to the crime of medical negligence, which turns daily into the most dangerous killing tools used by the occupation prison administration against prisoners. .


It is noteworthy that the number of sick prisoners reached about 600, including 23 prisoners who suffer from cancer and tumors of varying degrees, and they are among the 200 prisoners who suffer from chronic diseases.
