The number of job vacancies in the United States rose again in September

Washington (AFP) - The number of job vacancies in the United States rose again in September, reaching 10.7 million, according to the US Census Bureau in a statement.

The number of job vacancies increased by 437,000 during the month, partially reversing the decline recorded in August, according to data published in the Employment Opportunities and Labor Market Turnover report (Jolts).

The total number of vacancies was much higher than analysts' expectations, which, unlike the results, were expecting a decrease of about 500,000 jobs compared to the previous month, according to the specialized "MarketWatch" website.

In details, the increase in the number of vacancies was mainly driven by the logistics, health and social assistance sectors, in addition to hotels and restaurants.

"Job opportunities have increased unexpectedly," said Rubila Farooqui, chief economist at Human Factors Engineering in the US, which indicates continued strong demand in the labor market, which is not slowing despite the US central bank's tightening monetary policy.

While the number of vacancies increased, appointments decreased, on the other hand, to 6.1 million (compared to 6.3 million in August), due to a decline in the manufacturing sector as well as in the field of education, according to data published by the US Census Bureau.
