Beware of fragmentation of the resistance arenas

Written by: Ibrahim Abrash

The term (the unity of the squares) was sometimes referred to when talking about (the axis of resistance), and what is meant by it is the interaction and coordination between the squares that are hostile to Israel and declare armed resistance against it, which are the resistance factions in Gaza, Hezbollah, Iran and Syria, then the Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ismail al-Nakhala, launched the term The unity of the arenas on the battle that the Jihad movement waged against Israel last August.

The unity of the squares is synonymous and opposite to saying that there is a strategy to resist the occupation, whether it is on the Arab, Islamic or Palestinian level. Unfortunately, this strategy (the unity of the squares) did not exist in the history of the conflict with the Zionist enemy in its three levels, as Israel, supported by Washington, succeeded in fragmenting the squares of boycott, opposition and resistance through The fragmentation and fragmentation of the Arab and Islamic nations and the sowing of differences and conflicts between their countries and within each country, the latest of which is what happened during the chaos of the so-called (Arab Spring), even partial coordination and reaching a unified strategy between Egypt and Syria during the October 1973 war did not last long, which led to a partial victory In this war, it was possible to achieve a greater victory if coordination and Arab support for the two states continued.

With regard to the unity of the squares within the scope of the axis of resistance, the unity was at the level of slogans and modest forms of support and coordination. In reality, Israel succeeded in being unique in each square separately. Sometimes it is the Gaza square while the other squares are silent, and once it is isolated by Hezbollah 2006 and the other squares are silent, and so on.

The Zionist enemy, supported by Washington, not only succeeded in distracting and weakening the Arab position in support of the Palestinians, but also dragged some of them into normalization and military cooperation with it. And the interests of one of the parties to the axis of resistance, and as a Palestinian, the enemy succeeded in creating division, separating Gaza from the West Bank, and creating preoccupations and problems for each party, but the enemy did not succeed in shaking the people’s faith in their national cause or striking the unity of the people, and this is what we are seeing these days through the escalation of confrontations between our people in the West Bank and the army Occupation and herds of settlers.

The launch of the Islamic Jihad movement under the name Unity of the Squares on the last battle with the Zionist enemy was a cry of pain and hope at the same time that all fronts against the enemy would ignite instead of leaving the jihad alone in the arena. Gaza factions, especially Hamas.

We will not expand here on talking about the unity of the arenas in the Arab world or at the level of the axis of resistance, and we will not even go back to talking about the Palestinian geographical, ideological and political division as the greatest threat to the unity of the resistance, national unity and the unity of the arenas. What we want to talk about and warn against is the enemy’s efforts to fragment the arenas in the West Bank through Besieging the fighters and excluding each city and camp.

What happened in the Jenin camp requires evoking the saying of the unity of the Palestinian arenas. It is not permissible for us to leave the enemy alone in the Jenin camp, so that the war appears as if it is between the Jenin camp and Israel, or between Nablus and Israel, as happened previously in the wars on Gaza, which showed the matter as a war between Gaza and Israel only, and then It turned into a war between Islamic Jihad and Israel.

With our full appreciation and respect for the fighters and everyone who stands up to the occupation army in the Jenin camp or other arenas, and with all the positive actions of the resistance, even if it is individual, and with our realization that the resistance is like a rolling snowball that is gradually growing, and for the snowball to roll in the right direction, it needs a national strategy to confront The occupation is a strategy with multiple tracks of action, politically, culturally, economically, and popular resistance, and in coordination between all arenas, not only between the camps, cities, and villages of the West Bank and Jerusalem, but also between the West Bank, Gaza, 48, and the diaspora.

If the enemy succeeds in fragmenting the resistance arenas in the West Bank, then it will have dominance over every single arena, and it must not be swayed by the patriotic emotions and feelings. He left them alone in the confrontation, and we have seen what happened in Jerusalem.

We have to recall that the beginning of the contemporary Palestinian revolution in the mid-sixties was in the arena abroad, and had it not been for the support of the people inside and outside the homeland and the national unity that was embodied in the PLO, this revolution would not have succeeded in mobilizing patriotism and the Palestinian identity and imposing the issue on the world as a cause of national liberation, as we must remind With the uprising of our people inside the Green Line on Earth Day in March 1976, when the people in all their places of residence interacted with this uprising and still celebrate its memory to this day, and the uprising of our people in the Negev, and for us in the first two uprisings 1987 and the second 2000 lessons, where national unity or the unity of the squares was manifested in particular At the beginning of the two uprisings, before the arenas were divided as a result of political conflicts and external interference, and the most important contemporary embodiment of the unity of the arenas was the Palestinians in the (Battle of Saif al-Quds) in May 2021, where the masses of our people rose up at home and in Gaza, the West Bank and the diaspora in support of our people in Jerusalem, and the occupation leaders admitted that what It posed a real existential threat to Israel, and unfortunately this uprising was aborted and circumvented by the force of Arab and international interventions and the power of Zionist oppression, in addition to a The division prevented it from continuing and exploiting it, as was the case with the two previous uprisings.
