The delegation of the State of Palestine to the meeting was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, Asim Khamis, and Counselor Jumana Al-Ghoul from the Palestinian delegation to the Arab League.

The Assistant Secretary-General for Social Affairs, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said that she briefed the committee on the report of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, which includes all the efforts and activities that took place between the two sessions of the Council in the various sectors of joint Arab social and development work, explaining that she focused on continuing to implement the social dimensions of the development plan. Sustainable Development Goals 2030, focusing on supporting vulnerable groups in society, and other activities related to health, youth, women, family and childhood.

Abu-Ghazaleh added that at the forefront of the agenda of the Social Committee was preparation for the 31st session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of the summit, and preparation for the Arab Development Summit: socio-economic in its fifth session, Arab-international cooperation in the social development fields, and other social issues related to life. She explained that it is expected that the Economic and Social Council, at the level of senior officials, will be briefed on the recommendations of the Social Committee at its meeting scheduled for September 1, and then raise the issues at the ministerial level on September 2, to take the necessary decisions on all economic and social issues. Which enhance joint Arab social action and support efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Abu-Ghazaleh indicated that the Economic Committee of the Economic and Social Council will begin its work tomorrow, Monday, with the aim of discussing many important issues that represent a priority in joint Arab economic action.

For his part, Khamis said that the meeting discussed a number of vital decisions, the most important of which is the establishment of an Arab center for economic and social empowerment in Palestine, in addition to the report of the Secretary-General on the follow-up to the decisions of the 109th session of the Council and the activity of the General Secretariat between the two sessions.

Khamis confirmed that the establishment of the Arab Center for Economic Empowerment in Palestine was discussed and presented to more than one session, and it was approved by the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and the Social and Economic Council in its extraordinary extraordinary session, in preparation for the Arab summit, and today it was approved in the meetings of the Social Committee of the regular session 110.

He added that the center enjoys great interest in the State of Palestine, being the first Arab center through which the focus will be on economic empowerment as one of the tools of sustainable development and one of the sustainable solutions to the problem of poverty, and it is an opportunity to exchange experiences with our Arab brothers.

It is noteworthy that the agenda of the committee included important issues that represent primary issues in the joint Arab social development work, and take into account the current developments and developments, especially the economic and social file of the League Council at the summit level in its regular session (31), which will include a number of important issues affecting the citizen.
