Two dead and four injured, two seriously, in a shooting in Paris

Paris - (AFP) - Two people died after being wounded Friday in a shooting in the tenth arrondissement of Paris, according to the prosecution, which confirmed that four people were injured, two of whom were in serious condition.


The prosecution added that "a man between the ages of 60 and 70 was arrested," and his identity is being verified.


A police source said that the suspect in the shooting was "French" and had previous records in two attempted murders.


The shooting took place on Dangan Street, near a Kurdish cultural center in a commercial and lively area that is particularly frequented by members of the Kurdish community.


The Public Prosecution said, "An investigation has been opened into crimes of assassination, premeditated murder, and aggravated violence," and "the investigations are currently entrusted to the Second Department of the Judicial Police."


A police source stated that the arrested man was "white in complexion" and "about sixty years of age," explaining that the death toll is not final.


He added that the man "was arrested with his weapon... his motives are still unknown at the present time."


The correspondent of Agence France-Presse that at the intersection of Dangan Street and Doutoville stretchers were brought quietly to the place where the police imposed a security cordon.
