At least 8 people were killed in a Russian bombing of a bus stop in eastern Ukraine
Kiev (Ukraine) (AFP) - At least eight people were killed and four wounded Thursday in Russian bombing of a bus stop in the front-line town of Toritsk in eastern Ukraine , the governor of the Donetsk region said.
"According to preliminary information, there was artillery fire. They hit a public bus stop and there was a crowd of people at that time," Pavlo Kirilenko wrote on Telegram.
He reported that three of the four injured were children.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday urged residents of this region to leave quickly in the face of Russian bombing and problems with water supply and heating.
"I appeal to all residents of the region: Do not be a target for the Russians! Leave without delay!" Kirilenko said in his post.
Russian bombing targeted several Ukrainian towns and villages on Thursday, including Mykolaiv in the south, where residential buildings were damaged in two neighborhoods, according to Mayor Oleksandr Senkevich.
In Kharkiv, the country's second city, local authorities reported Russian missile attacks targeting industrial areas.
Ukrainian forces are leading a counter-attack in the south of the country, where they say they have recaptured more than 50 villages from Russian forces.
