Osaily calls on the private sector in the "Islamic Cooperation" countries to invest in Palestine
Istanbul - "Jerusalem" dot com - Today, Tuesday, Minister of National Economy Khaled Asseily called on the private sector in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to invest in Palestine and establish joint investments with their Palestinian counterparts, which contributes to the employment of the Palestinian workforce.
This came during his participation in the opening of the 38th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) held in Istanbul, Turkey, which was inaugurated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Osaily called on Islamic countries to implement the decisions of previous Islamic summits regarding exempting Palestinian exports and goods from customs duties and taxes when entering the markets of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which will reflect positively on the Palestinian economy. On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with our Palestinian people, Osaily expressed his thanks and appreciation for the positions of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the Palestinian issue, including the decision requesting the International Court of Justice to issue an advisory opinion on the legal implications arising from Israel’s violation of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, in addition to the positions of the countries that contributed to supporting these decisions, affirming their commitment to international law.
He also thanked the COMCEC for supporting the steadfastness of our people in occupied Jerusalem, through projects directed to the city, stressing the importance of adopting the decision to support Jerusalem and mobilizing the necessary financing for it through a donation by adding the minimum amount of the national monetary currency of the member states of the Islamic Cooperation to the landline and cellular phone bill. For service subscribers, and to authorize the Islamic Development Bank to manage these funds in the same manner as the Al-Aqsa and Al-Quds Funds, in accordance with the applicable procedures of the Bank.
The Minister of National Economy renewed his invitation to Turkish investors to invest in Palestine, expecting to start establishing factories in the Jenin Industrial Free Zone during the second half of next year, indicating that Turkish investors in Palestine will be given the same treatment as investors in the Republic of Turkey, according to the decision of the Turkish President. Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He stressed the importance of supporting the trade facilitation initiative to remove Israeli obstacles by encouraging container shipping through the port of Aqaba and efforts to establish a complex for containers and logistic areas, in addition to the importance of holding an investment conference, which provides an opportunity for Islamic countries to see economic developments among them. The current economic situation, and the policies and procedures of the Israeli occupation that limit the possibility of developing the Palestinian economy, in addition to the efforts made by the Palestinian government to enhance the steadfastness of citizens and the interventions it implements to attract business and investment.
