The limits of the Palestinian benefit from the Israeli turmoil
Written by: Malik Wannous
In conjunction with the harm and pain that can be inflicted on the Palestinians by the Israeli settlers, and other extremists whose extremism has been increased by the presence of a fascist government in the leadership of the occupying state, the presence of this government is an opportunity to highlight the cause of the Palestinian people, and to show that their struggle is no longer but a defense of existence in the face of the settlement policy Ethnic cleansing and Israeli erasure. However, many obstacles stand in the way of achieving this, not only because of Israeli extremism, but also because of the existing Palestinian impotence. However, a new understanding and successful tactic of the emerging Palestinian forces from outside the frameworks of the factions can exploit this extremism in its favour, by revealing the true barbaric face of "abhorrent and disgusting." Behind the mask of what they call "Israeli democracy".
After the massacre committed by the Israeli settlers in the Palestinian town of Huwara, on the night of the 26th of last month (February), in response to the killing of two settlers there, the only comment from the Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, was that the settlers did not have to take revenge with their own hands, hinting that The Israeli army will avenge them. And because he was not satisfied with the manifestations of the destruction in Huwwara, the burning of houses and cars, the killing of a Palestinian and the wounding of others, and his lust for killing did not diminish, Netanyahu sent his soldiers, on the afternoon of March 7, to Nablus and the Jenin camp to arrest the perpetrator of the Huwwara operation, and to complete what the killers did in that Huwwara Tonight, fulfilling his promise of revenge, they inflicted six additional victims, to join the victims of the massacres committed by the Israelis in Nablus, Jenin, and other places in the last two months.
These practices are not surprising for the settlers, nor for the most right-wing government known to the occupying state in its short history, which Netanyahu formed from the poles of the extremist, racist religious movements, in order to increase the militarization and hostility to the Arabs, pass all settlement projects, confiscate lands, demolish Palestinian homes, and obtain approvals to launch War or bloody incursions into Arab neighborhoods without any internal objection. The result was several massacres in less than two months, which claimed the lives of dozens of martyrs and hundreds of wounded, in addition to the demolition of Palestinian homes. As for when one of the Palestinians decided to avenge the martyrs of Nablus and others near the town of Huwara, flocks of settlers attacked the town, burned homes and cars, killed and injured safe people, then one of Netanyahu's most extremist ministers, the Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, came out to call for "wiping Huwara out of existence." And to emphasize the true face of the Israeli government, the fascist religious apartheid government.
The settler attack disturbed the European and American West, and many likened it to the "crystal night" (or crystal) that occurred in the late 1930s, when the German Nazis attacked Jewish homes and broke their windows. No sooner had the fires of dialogue subsided, than Smotrich came out with his call to erase it, disgusting those officials, and forcing the US State Department spokesman to declare in an unprecedented way that that call was “abhorrent, irresponsible and disgusting.” Then it was reported that US officials would boycott Smotrich when he visited the United States. . The Europeans were also forced to come out with a joint French-German Italian-Polish-Spanish-British statement condemning "the indiscriminate violence of settlers against the Palestinians and the destruction of their property".
Why is the West forced to issue these unprecedented condemnations? The aggressive practices of the Israeli government and its targeting of all groups of the Palestinian people on their occupied land, and the destruction of their villages, homes and properties in front of the cameras of international news agencies, in what amounts to a war crime and a fascist ethnic cleansing policy that embarrasses Western officials and makes them unable to condone it, based on the moral stance which they are compelled to appear before their electorate. Nor can they remain silent about it at a time when the former head of the Shin Bet (internal intelligence), Yuval Diskin, said it was “Jewish terrorism,” and Israeli peace activists likened it to the Jewish “pogrom” against the Palestinians, that is, mass attacks that are carried out with the approval or condoning of the authorities against the Palestinians. A national, ethnic or religious minority, inflicting destruction and committing massacres against it, and this was once done against some Jews in Tsarist Russia.
In the absence of an inclusive Palestinian national project, there is a need to search for new ways, or to activate existing ways, peaceful or even military, that are presented as a response to the brutality of the occupiers. As the Israeli crimes were accompanied by the demonstrations of the Israeli opponents, Netanyahu’s efforts to limit the powers of the judiciary, which the protesters consider an attack on internal democracy, destabilizing the stability, and a motive for creating a centrifugal environment for capitals for the possibility of changing the entity’s credit rating. This reality will confirm the calls for the boycott movement, the imposition of sanctions and the withdrawal of Investments (BDS), which have been launched for many years, call for an understanding of the reality of this racist entity and the necessity of boycotting it. It is an opportunity for this movement to re-present its goals, especially after it was targeted in America, and after the occupation government classified it as the greatest threat facing the occupying state because of its exposure of the brutal Israeli dealings with the Palestinian people. With the emergence of Israeli brutality evident in front of everyone's eyes, it will be easy for the movement to make its voice heard to all officials and owners of companies, and to make them understand that their continued support for the entity and their continued investments in it will increase the criminality of the Israelis, and will hold them morally responsible, because this would be tantamount to condoning the evident crimes of the Israelis.
It has become clear that Israeli society is in great turmoil, will continue, and may interact more, because Netanyahu's continued presence in the government has become for him a matter of fate, and his future can only be determined by implementing the changes in the judiciary that he needs to prevent his trial. His presence in the government is also conditioned on the presence of the ultra-fascist right-wing extremists at his side in its ministries. Therefore, it is possible that we will witness a major security escalation, which will be accompanied by a media and verbal escalation similar to Smotrich's, exposing the nature of this entity, and providing an opportunity for the Palestinians and their supporters in the world to dedicate its true image to world leaders and peoples, to highlight the brutal face of the occupiers and their injustice against the Palestinians. It is an opportunity that if the benefit from it is few these times, it will not continue in the coming days.
