Trump threatens widespread military strikes against Iran in response to targeting of American helicopter

US President Donald Trump issued strong threats against Tehran, confirming that the United States would launch powerful military strikes against the Iranian side in the coming hours. This escalation came in response to an attack targeting a US Army Apache helicopter, with Trump emphasizing that Iran would pay a heavy price for targeting American interests and military mechanisms in the region.

Trump clarified in his statements that the current US administration is actively seeking to prevent the Iranian regime from acquiring any nuclear weapons, accusing the leadership in Tehran of pursuing a policy of procrastination in ongoing negotiations. He indicated that Washington was close to reaching a new agreement which he described as 'good and meaningful,' but the Iranian side continues to exploit time and persist in attempts to deceive the international community and the United States.

In the context of reviewing military options, the US President revealed that the armed forces had successfully targeted radar systems inside Iranian territory last night and on previous occasions. Trump strongly criticized the 2015 nuclear deal, considering that it paved the way for Tehran to possess a nuclear bomb, while the current American move aims to permanently close all avenues for Iranian nuclear ambitions.

These developments come at a time when reports indicate that Iran is setting preconditions for negotiations, including a complete ceasefire in Lebanon, which complicates the diplomatic path between the two parties. The Trump administration faces increasing internal pressure with 13 American soldiers lost in the Gulf region so far, amidst comparisons made by political circles between Trump's handling of the current crisis and former President Jimmy Carter's failure to manage the 1979 hostage crisis.

Observers believe that Trump fears popular and political repercussions if more American forces are killed, which could affect his political future as happened with Carter previously. Nevertheless, the White House appears determined to restore deterrence through direct military operations, amid the dominance of escalatory rhetoric in the general scene and Iran's determination of US foreign policy in the current phase.

We will strike Iran hard again today, and it should have signed the agreement Washington is working on because it is meaningful.
