Medical and field sources reported an increase in the death toll from the aerial raid launched by the occupation aircraft, which targeted a populated residential home in the center of Gaza City. The Red Crescent Society confirmed that its teams were able to recover the bodies of 7 martyrs, including two children, after the initial toll indicated only five fatalities before the search operations under the rubble were completed.
The sources stated that the intense missile bombardment completely leveled the targeted home, causing more than 20 civilian injuries, who were subsequently transferred to field hospitals and nearby medical centers. Reports indicated that most of the injured were displaced women and children who had sought refuge in the home, and the condition of several of them was described as extremely critical due to the severity of the explosion.
In a related context, civil defense and rescue teams continue their efforts to comb the area around the destroyed home, as the bombing caused severe damage to the infrastructure and neighboring buildings in the residential area. The teams face extreme difficulties in recovery operations due to the limited available resources and the extensive destruction left by the raid, amid warnings of other missing persons under the rubble.
Regarding the overall field escalation, responsible medical sources revealed the martyrdom of 18 citizens since Tuesday morning due to a series of intense aerial raids and artillery shelling that targeted various areas of the Gaza Strip. The sources indicated that among the victims were martyrs who fell in a bombing that targeted the Rimal neighborhood west of the city, which alone resulted in the deaths of 3 martyrs and injuries to dozens with varying degrees of severity.
These tragic developments come at a time when the health system in the Strip is suffering from catastrophic deterioration and a severe shortage of essential medicines and medical consumables needed to save the lives of the injured. Hospitals warned of their inability to cope with the increasing number of complex injuries amid the continued siege and closure of crossings, which threatens to increase the number of deaths among the injured who require urgent surgical interventions.
