Two Palestinian citizens sustained injuries of varying degrees, one of whom was described as being in serious condition, as a result of a series of attacks carried out by groups of settlers today, Saturday, in various areas of the occupied West Bank. The attacks ranged from direct physical assaults to property arson, as settlers set fire to a Palestinian vehicle near the village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah, amidst an escalating wave of systematic violence against Palestinian villages and towns.
In the southern Hebron, farmer Mohammed Abdel Hamid Al-Hamamda was subjected to a violent beating by armed settlers while harvesting his crops in the Tal Ma'in area of Yatta town. Local sources reported that settlers stormed the archaeological area in the town of Al-Karmel, and began chasing farmers and shepherds, hurling abusive insults at them, forcing them to abandon their lands under threat of arms.
The Al-Balqa area near the town of Al-Auja, north of Jericho, witnessed a bloody attack, where settlers stormed a Bedouin community and assaulted residents inside their homes. The attack resulted in a citizen sustaining severe head injuries, requiring urgent transfer to the hospital, amidst human rights warnings of the occupation and settlers' attempts to empty Bedouin communities of their residents through a policy of continuous intimidation.
Also on the ground, Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Nablus and its affiliated Ein camp, launching a wide raid campaign that targeted citizens' homes in the vicinity of the Old City. The operation resulted in the arrest of three citizens, including two former prisoners, after searching their homes, tampering with their contents, and causing significant material damage, as part of the daily incursions carried out by occupation forces in West Bank cities.
On the humanitarian front, the United Nations issued strong warnings about the worsening internal displacement crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories. Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, confirmed that approximately 40,000 Palestinians have been forced to flee their homes since the beginning of 2025, attributing this to intensive military operations and settler attacks, which often occur under direct protection from the occupation army.
The UN official explained that the policy of home demolitions pursued by the Israeli authorities directly contributed to the recent waves of displacement, especially during the first week of this May. He pointed out that dozens of families, including children and women, found themselves homeless, emphasizing that these attacks directly target the Palestinian presence and their property within an escalating pattern aimed at changing the demographic reality.
International reports indicate that the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the West Bank has reached unprecedented levels as a result of repeated incursions and systematic demolition operations. These developments come at a time when settler groups continue to expand the scope of their attacks to include destroying agricultural crops and preventing shepherds from accessing pastures, threatening the livelihoods of thousands of Palestinian families who depend on agriculture.
It is worth noting that the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem have been in a state of turmoil since October 2023, with official Palestinian data indicating the martyrdom of 1155 citizens and the injury of approximately 11750 others. The number of arrests has also reached nearly 22,000 cases, amidst an unprecedented military escalation affecting all aspects of life in the occupied territories.
Approximately 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced since the beginning of 2025, as a result of Israeli military operations and escalating settler attacks.
