The UAE has renewed its expression of support for the principle of the "two-state solution" for Palestine and Israel as a fundamental requirement for achieving a "lasting, just, and comprehensive" resolution to the Palestinian issue.
This was stated in a speech during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where Minister of State Lana Zaki Nusseibeh delivered the speech and affirmed her country's commitment to "diplomacy, peaceful solutions, and dialogue" to resolve conflicts.
Regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Nusseibeh stated that "no excuse can justify targeting tens of thousands of civilians, besieging them, starving them, forcibly displacing them, or advancing unacceptable expansionist ambitions, including the threat to annex the West Bank."
Nusseibeh emphasized that "this situation cannot be exploited as a justification for aggression against the countries of the region, as we recently witnessed in the treacherous and condemned Israeli attack against the sisterly State of Qatar."
She stressed that "aggressive practices will not bring stability to the region."
She also affirmed the UAE's belief in "the existence of a competent Palestinian government capable of meeting the aspirations of the Palestinian people, monopolizing weapons, and ensuring security, stability, and the rule of law."
Nusseibeh conveyed the UAE's welcome for the growing recognition of the State of Palestine and called on other countries to join this path "as an investment in a better future for the region."
The minister emphasized that the UAE's "first and urgent demand is to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, end the blockade, release hostages and detainees, and facilitate the urgent, widespread, and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid."
My country has always believed in the centrality of the two-state solution and the necessity of establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state.
