Ro’ya correspondent: Occupation forces arrest the mayor of Hebron, Taysir Abu Sneina, after storming his home.

In a new escalation in the occupied West Bank, Israeli occupation forces arrested the mayor of Hebron, Taysir Abu Sneina, early Tuesday morning after raiding his home in the city.

Local and family sources reported that an Israeli military force stormed Abu Sneina's home in the early hours of dawn, searched it, and vandalized its contents before taking him to an unknown location.

Military vehicles surrounded the area around the mayor's house before soldiers forcibly entered the home. The search operation included deliberate destruction of furniture and belongings.

The occupation authorities have not yet announced the reasons for Abu Sneina's arrest, who is considered a prominent political figure in Hebron Governorate and one of its largest municipalities.

Abu Sneina's arrest comes amid a campaign of daily arrests and raids carried out by the occupation forces in various cities and villages of the West Bank. These campaigns target activists, politicians, and Palestinian figures, increasing the tension and unrest in the occupied territories.

The arrest of an elected mayor is viewed as a provocative step aimed at undermining the work of elected Palestinian institutions and imposing a reality of military force.
