Ben Gvir's storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The occupation continues its relentless war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, as extremist Israeli Security Minister Ben-Gvir stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy guard from occupation forces. This provocative and inflammatory act offends the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world and demonstrates a clear disregard for the international community, international law, and international legitimacy resolutions.

The storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the extremist Itamar Ben Gvir and his desecration of the Islamic sanctities, which have become subject to daily violations by gangs of settlers who operate under the cover of a right-wing government that is working diligently to control our Islamic and Christian sanctities through a clearly defined and systematic plan. The storming carried out by the extremist Ben Gvir confirms the Israeli political cover for him and the involvement of Benjamin Netanyahu's government in these practices. Ben Gvir had stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, supported by his extreme right-wing government, (8) times since he took office and (5) times since the start of the war on Gaza. He had previously issued several extreme right-wing statements in which he threatened to establish a Jewish synagogue in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The attempts of the occupation government to undermine the historical and legal status of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem are unacceptable and invalid, and represent a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions. They contribute to increased escalation, tension and instability in the region, as they came after the occupation army bombed the clinic of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Jabalia camp in the Gaza Strip, which led to the martyrdom and injury of dozens of displaced persons, most of whom were children and women, and the expansion of the occupation's military operations throughout the Strip and the policy of systematic starvation against civilians, which constitutes a crime and a catastrophe against humanity and a flagrant violation of all international conventions that guarantee human rights and the right of peoples to live in dignity.

This behavior is likely to ignite a serious crisis in Jerusalem because these incursions affect the feelings of Muslims and violate the sanctity of the mosque, which belongs exclusively to Muslims and no one disputes it by divine decree. Ben Gvir and the extremist settlers who stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque live on air are well aware that this step is provocative to the feelings of the people of Jerusalem who sacrifice their lives and souls for Al-Aqsa, and that this incursion is considered a disregard for the feelings of the entire Islamic nation.

Urgent and serious Arab, Islamic, and international action is needed to prevent the recurrence of these incursions, which portend an outbreak of religious conflict in the region, with dire consequences for all Arab and Islamic peoples, as well as for Israeli society. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Arabs, and Muslims must take a firm stance in this regard, protesting this challenge to the feelings of more than two billion Muslims worldwide.

It is the international silence that has encouraged the occupation to persist in defying international law and continue committing crimes against our people and our land. The occupying state must be forced to submit to international legitimacy and stop its aggression and crimes. The international community, the Security Council, international and regional parliaments, and the peoples of the free world must take strict and immediate measures against the occupation to stop these provocative practices against the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem and to stop the genocide and ethnic cleansing it is committing against our people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. The inaction of the international community encourages the occupation government to deepen its violent isolation of the Palestinian people and pushes it to continue its war of genocide, displacement, and annexation.
