Lebanese security forces announce the arrest of suspects in the firing of rockets at Israel.

The Lebanese General Directorate of General Security arrested a number of suspects in connection with the launching of rockets from "unknown sources" in southern Lebanon on March 22 and 28. This comes as part of intensive intelligence operations to uncover those involved and ensure stability.

A statement issued Sunday evening by the directorate's media affairs office stated that the arrests were made under the supervision of the relevant judiciary, and that investigations into the detainees have begun to determine responsibilities and take appropriate legal action.

The statement stressed that this step comes as part of the Public Security Department's efforts to monitor the security situation and maintain stability in light of the recent events witnessed in the south.

Hezbollah denied responsibility for firing rockets toward Kiryat Shmona, stressing that this was "in the context of fabricating dubious pretexts" to continue the Israeli aggression against Lebanon. It also affirmed its commitment to the ceasefire.

Hezbollah's media relations department quoted a "source" within the party, described as responsible, as confirming "the party's commitment to the ceasefire agreement." The source denied "any connection to the rockets launched from southern Lebanon today toward northern occupied Palestine."

He pointed out that "these incidents come within the context of fabricating suspicious pretexts to continue the Israeli aggression against Lebanon."

This comes after air raid sirens sounded in Kiryat Shmona and the surrounding area on Friday morning. The Israeli military announced that it had detected two rockets fired from Lebanon, intercepted one, and landed the other in Lebanese territory, according to a statement.

Following this, the Israeli army attacked sites and areas in southern Lebanon, in addition to bombing a building in the southern suburbs of Beirut for the first time since the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel went into effect on November 27, 2024.

The Israeli army announced an attack on a Hezbollah drone storage facility in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
