The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Minister Badr Abdel Aty discussed, in a phone call with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, today (Monday), developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry added in a statement: "The call addressed the joint efforts undertaken by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar to release the hostages, achieve a ceasefire, de-escalate the situation, and consolidate and implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza."
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry continued, saying that the two sides also emphasized "continuing joint action to achieve security, peace, and stability in the Middle East, ensuring that the region is free of conflicts and wars."
Israel abandoned the ceasefire agreement last week when it resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing hundreds after weeks of relative calm following an agreement reached in January.
