UNRWA: 260,000 children in Gaza have joined distance learning since the beginning of the year

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that nearly 260,000 children from the Gaza Strip have joined its distance learning programme since last January.

"Nearly 260,000 children have registered and joined the agency's distance learning programme since last January," she said in a post on the X platform on Tuesday.

She added that her teams "continue to provide psychosocial support in the central region and Khan Yunis."

UNRWA noted that it had "assisted more than 15,000 cases since the ceasefire began," which allowed thousands of displaced persons to return to their areas of residence and destroyed homes.

On February 23, the new school year began in the Gaza Strip amidst major challenges resulting from the genocidal war waged by Israel on the Strip.

It is noteworthy that 95% of school and educational buildings were damaged, while 85% of them were out of service as a result of being completely or partially destroyed during the months of the genocide.
