Palestine is present at the Oscars.. “No Other Land” wins the OSCAR for Best Documentary Feature

The Palestinian film "No Other Land" won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

The award was received at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood by Palestinian director Basil Adra and anti-occupation Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham.

The film shows Adra resisting the forced displacement of Palestinians by the Israeli occupation army in the Masafer Yatta area of the occupied West Bank.

Adra said that the film "reflects the harsh reality that we have been suffering from for decades and that we are still resisting, and we call on the world to take serious measures to stop the injustice and stop the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people."

In turn, Abraham said that they made the film because their voices together are stronger, adding: “When I look at Basil, I see my brother, but we are not equal. We live in a ruling system where I am free under civil law and Basil is subject to military law, which destroys his life and he cannot control it.”

"There is a different way. A political solution without ethnic supremacy, with the guarantee of the national rights of both our peoples. And I must say while I am here that the foreign policy of this country is contributing to blocking that way," he added.

5 Awards for the movie "Anora"

The tragic film "Anora" topped the list of Oscar winners, winning five awards, including in the main categories of Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress.

“A truly independent film, with a budget of less than six million dollars, tell the stories that move you, and I promise you will never regret it,” said Anora director Sean Baker.

The film also won awards for Best Actress for Mikey Madison, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Director.

Most notable awards

After winning four Golden Globes, the film "Emilia Perez", which had the most nominations, was left with only two awards after its chances had recently declined due to controversy surrounding it.

Adrien Brody also won Best Actor for his role in "The Brutalist," in which he plays an architect who survived the Holocaust and immigrated to the United States; Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for "A Real Pain"; and Zoe Saldanha won Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Emilia Perez."

Brazilian film "I'm Still Here" won Best International Film, and "Flo" won Best Animated Film, thanks to the moving adventures of a lost cat who faces the flooding of her planet.

The award for Best Adapted Screenplay went to Peter Straughan's "Conclave," a mystery-filled story about the election of a new pope in the Vatican.

The film "The Subsistence" by French director Coralie Varga won the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, for the amazing physical transformation of Demi Moore, who played the role of a woman addicted to a rejuvenation serum that has devastating effects.

The evening was largely free of controversy, compared to the 2017 Oscars shortly after Donald Trump was elected to his first term, which included political references at the time.
